Hosted by Our Indigenous Traditions Shop at OITClothing.com The Talking Stick- culturally adopted by tribes and used today, is a stick that "empowers peace" between Nations. The stick is passed around in the four directions of the circle, given everyone who has the stick an opportunity to speak their mind freely, share a song, ask for help, and etc. The stick encourages everyone to listen to the stick holder and builds trust in the community. We will sit down and have discussions on Indigenous Culture, Daily Life, Entrepreneur, Tribal Leadership, etc. A different perspective from various areas of different tribes, on what they have to go through from survival, elder teaching, and what needs to be shared. The Talking Stick, Podcast Episode #20 Live with Laurita of Pulasuco
Wednesday Jul 14, 2021
Wednesday Jul 14, 2021
In this episode, we hear Laura share her journey, support, and advocacy for the Indigenous Communities of Colombia. How the brand products are made and the meaning of some.
➖➖➖➖➖
Buenas! My name is Laura, but you can call me Laurita. I am a proud Colombiana, born in Medellin, Antioquia. I have always been prideful of my beautiful country and the people that make it so special. I am on the tricky journey of finding out who I am, who my ancestors are, and what my purpose on this green earth is. I have a long journey ahead of me, but in the meantime, I wanted to support & advocate for the Indigenous communities of Colombia.
About a year ago I started brainstorming different business ideas and then it dawned on me how cool and special it would be to support artisans straight from the motherland! I partnered up with 4 communities & families who are gifted artisans, pattern makers, and designers.
I started Pülasü ancestral with the intention of helping preserve their traditions by working closely with artisans who make every piece on my page and not only showcasing their pieces, but also talking about the history, meaning, and purpose of their handcrafts. I’m super serious and motivated to make changes happen by creating lasting social & financial change in these communities by ensuring they’re getting paid a fair price for their work that helps them get closer to financial freedom.
